Though he’s been wearing it for a while I just noticed a few weeks ago that Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, Duff Goldman, owner of Baltimore’s Charm City Cakes is often rockin’ an Intelligentsia Coffee hat. Spoke to Sean McMahon, National Production Manager at the Chicago coffee roaster, who says:
“I have been a fan of Ace of Cakes from day one, the way his crew interacts, the long hours and the passion for what they do reminded me of our own production crews. I bleed intelligentsia coffee and love turning people on to it. One day I thought, what could it hurt, I’ll try to reach out to Duff and the Ace crew and see what happens. I wrote an email to Mary Alice explaining my situation, what we do as a company and that I would love to send them a care package. Within one day I received an email back saying that they love coffee and would love to try ours. Just by chance and noticing on the show that Duff always wears a hat, like me, I included one in that original shipment. Little did I know at the time that he would fall in love with it and wear it in just about every episode, I believe he was even animated as a cartoon for King of the Hill wearing that hat. The response I got once they received the coffee was great, they truly loved it. It makes us happy to see and hear people enjoying what we love doing. He loved the hat so much and wore it everywhere that recently Mary Alice called us looking for a new one because Duff had finally lost it and I guess was very upset. As I stated early, being a hat man myself, I understand the hurt it causes when you lose one that just fits so right. Unfortunately, that hat is out of stock, as we are currently designing a new one, which I will be sending to him the second they roll off the assembly line.”
So, will we see the Commander-In-Chief sporting an Intelly hat at his next White Sox outing?
McMahon adds, “I’m working on President Obama currently, biggest challenge yet, we shall see. He seems to be a hard one to get a hold of, damn secret service.”
