Enjoy your victory dude. I’ve got $100,000 dollars and international fame.
Stephanie Izard might be Top Chef America, but is she Top Chef Chicago?
On Sunday night, Executive Chef of The Drawing Room(937 N. Rush) Nick Lacasse edged out Stephanie Izard in a cooking throwdown battle.
According to the press release:
The chefs used the following ingredient guidelines:
Course One
Raw Fish and Asparagus
Course Two
Foie Gras and Kumquats
Course Three
Lamb and Cherries
The chefs completed the meal with a collaborative dessert effort featuring fresh strawberries.
Diners used ballots to pick their favorite of each course. Guests were not told which chef prepared which dish, but rather voted for either Chef A or Chef B. In the end, Chef Lacasse defended his home kitchen by taking home two out of the three courses.
Chef Izard’s Hamachi tartar with seaweed, asparagus yogurt, sliced asparagus and picked radish salad was the fan favorite for the first course.
Chef Lacasse’s Sautéed Foie Gras with walnut crostini, pickled fennel and kumquats gastrique took top honors for the second course. Lacasse capture the crowd again for the third course. His pumpkin seed crusted lamb chop with smoked potato puree, roasted shallot and Bing cherry relish and spearmint oil narrowly edged Izard’s dish.

Check out the cookware we use all the time.
Show the love, wear hungry gear.

Catchy caption, but the international reputation borders on delusional. Let’s hope it was a generous paraphrase.

Further evidence that the best chef didn’t win in the Top Chef finale this year. Dang it, his culinary pedigree is killer … Keller!!! Boulud!!! Chez Panisse!!! El Bulli!!! … nerves got the best of him but he’s still a rockstar in my book … I’ll have to find my way down to Atlanta to sample some of his magic. Thanks for covering this event, really like your blog!
