OMG: Sweet and Sour Chicken is Not Authentic Chinese Food

Bites: News and Miscellany

Turns out the fare served at your run of the mill Chinese spot is as American as Apple Pie. Dude, I was so positive that Almond Boneless Chicken was passed down from dynasty to dynasty. Bummer.

I can’t recall where I heard it, but basically everything that is deep fried (sweet+sour pork/chicken, general tsao, kung pow chicken) is not Chinese. Think about it, what’s more American that deep frying your food :-)

I never thought it was Chinese, but I love it anyway… I’m more curious about what really is Chinese from the Chinese restaurant!
