According to the Trib’s Chris Borrelli, Hamid Benna, owner of the Fiddlehead Café (4600 N. Lincoln Ave., 773-751-1500) in Lincoln Square is looking for customer feedback….
Borrelli says:
“[Benna’s] been open 17 months but he’s already been frustrated with the discourse between server and eater … So the past month or so he’s been asking customers to send him their favorite stories of meals that turned into disasters. He also wants to know if you have a favorite ethnic recipe or two. If either applies to you, he would like an e-mail (200 words or less). His favorite story or recipe will win the writer a dinner for two (or, for second place, a wine flight for two).”
You can reach benna at hamid@fiddleheadcafe.com.
We’ve got some feedback for Benna. Bring back opening chef Rob Levitt, formerly of Del Toro, and give him carte blanche to keep cooking with the organic and local ingredients from Chicago’s Green City Market. Offer good food made from good ingredients and then you won’t have to rely on cheesy tactics to bring customers in.

Check out the cookware we use all the time.
Show the love, wear hungry gear.

A little harsh and bitter today are we? I think you’re being too critical of the place. Have you eaten the new chefs food? He is very talented. If not, you should really make it a point to try it again.

Wholehearted agreement with Michaelhere - this place has let me Fiddlehead, I wanted for it to be worthwhile, but alas, after several visits, my girlfriend and I have the George Bush problem, “fool me once,” etc. We keep replaying this scene where we are receiving our check, wondering aloud why we keep coming back. The low point - a smoked salmon omelet. Some over cooked, unseasoned, rubbery eggs with cold smoked salmon and too thick raw red onion packed inside. Maybe if they called this dish “bland and stinky,” I could have appreciated it.
