Southside represent! Karen Lim is taking her father’s spicy deep fried chicken wing lollipop recipe (maybe the best chicken wings of any style in Chicago) from Great Seas Chinese (3254 W. Lawrence) to her new Pilsen storefront restaurant, Take Me Out, located at 1502 W. 18th St..
Lim, a former elementary schoolteacher, says, “I’ve been eating these for twenty years and I still love them.” Take Me Out will serve some “bowls” and deep fried appetizers, but the focus will be on the famous wings. Lim plans a brisk take-out business, but will also have in-store dining. She expects she could be open as early as next Saturday, but that’s totally tentative, so drive by at your own risk. Of course, Take Me Out is only a couple of blocks away from a ton of great taquerias, so it’s not like the trip would be a total waste.
Spicy wings at Great Seas
Tuan
I just went here last night (the albany park location) - yes, those wings are ridiculously good. If only I were made of sterner stuff, I’m sure I could have downed 20 or so - alas, the spiciness got to me too soon and I topped out at 7
But I am definitely going back there again soon.

We live within a mile of the Albany Park joint and my oh my do I feel lucky to have such a great wing place to frequent. We love getting them to go and bringing them home. After we sop them up with their sweet and super spiciness, we save the remaining sauce for a delectable treat the next night….we marinate talapia or chicken in it and make great tacos with a twist…or spread over some ribeyes and grill ‘em on the barby……sweet, crunchy and oh so spicy!!!
I could drink the sauce it is so good!
I think I need to go and get some right now!!!
yum!
